Hi all, just wondering if anyone knows how much experience you need to be granted exemption from the camp accreditation course(for both level one and two)? I am assuming that the age restriction of 21 was lifted.

Can some one with info please point me in the right direction?

There are no exemptions from this National SJA Accreditation. In Ontario, all members seeking advancement within this National Accreditation Program, are asked to forward/include any and all relevant camping experience with their application. This background experience will be used to evaluate your ability and/or your level; but as with other organizations with internal accreditation programs; to show due diligence and risk management as an organization, we reserve the right to assess our own memberships abilities from within our own program.

Generally, people who have great talent in this area are sought to assist us with our Camp Accreditation Courses (our next one is in June) and in doing so; their level and/or recert is often granted.

I hope this answers your question.

Don,
That helps mostly. Can I go straight to level 2? (I remember something I read about this but can't remember where it was.)

Just to confirm the 21 age restriction has been lifted for level 2?

And finally as PYO would you be the person to speak to/ corrispond with about this stuff or does some one else run it?

Thanks in advance

Depending on your experience and your involvement in our CCC courses, advancement within the levels is quite possible.

I am unware of any lifting of the Level 2 requirements.

Any questions may be directed to my attention. Indeed, Doug Keith has been my "right hand man" with the support of our Camp Accreditation Process in Ontario. If asked, Doug will confer with me if asked about policy that may be questioned.

I just assumed that given the regulations set out in "respect in the organization" that the requirement had been lifted. How often are courses run?(I just started a new shift work type job and as such will be working week ends for a while) May I send you a letter explaining my camp related qualification and my resume or is there a more formal process?
